Why We Put Creatine in Coffee

Creatine monohydrate is one of the most widely used supplements in the world, and one of the most boring. It's a plain white powder that people buy in a tub, keep in a cupboard, and then forget to take. That last part is the whole reason it ended up in our coffee.

ʼkôfē Black Coffee carries 3g of creatine monohydrate per scoop, alongside 10g of marine collagen, MCT powder, vitamin C and 150mg of caffeine.

caffeine and creatine together

Coffee and creatine are two things a lot of people already take on the same morning, usually separately — a coffee at the kettle, a scoop of powder shaken into water afterwards. Putting them in one cup removes a step rather than adding one.

Creatine monohydrate is unflavoured and dissolves readily in warm water, so it disappears into a dark roast without changing how it tastes. That was a hard requirement for us: if it made the coffee chalky or gritty, it wasn't going in.

why convenience wins

A supplement only does anything if you actually take it, consistently, over a long stretch of time. Most people don't fail at supplements because they picked the wrong one — they fail because the routine is fragile.

A morning coffee is about as un-fragile as a habit gets. It already happens, at roughly the same time, most days. Attaching creatine to that habit is far more reliable than asking someone to remember a separate scoop.

how it fits a training routine

Creatine is typically taken daily rather than only on training days, and timing is generally treated as flexible. That makes a morning drink a straightforward place to put it, whether you train at 6am or after work.

If you already take creatine from a tub, treat ʼkôfē as a replacement for that scoop rather than an addition, so you're not doubling up. If you're unsure how it fits alongside anything else you take, speak to your GP or a registered dietitian.

what's in a serving of black coffee

One scoop gives you 10g of marine collagen, 3g of creatine monohydrate, 2g of MCT powder, 80mg of vitamin C and 150mg of caffeine from Colombian coffee. No added sugar.

Everything is dosed openly on the pouch, so you can see exactly what a serving contains rather than reading a proprietary blend.
